The Purpose:

Join us for a fantastic and fun day of THINKING about math! Participants will use the research-based book Building Thinking Classrooms by Peter Liljedahl to learn how to turn their classrooms into learner-centered, student-owned places of deep thinking. In addition, participants will discover how to tie the 8 Mathematical Practices from the Illinois State Standards for Math to their Thinking Classrooms. Although the book is written for math teachers, the frame-works can be applied to most subjects. Non-math teachers are welcome to attend!
