The Purpose:
Our primary goal is to explore how to reinstate joy in the workplace which can increase staff retention. All teachers know their “why”. An example of a teacher’s “why” is to provide opportunity for and increase the frequency of success for children. However teachers have lived their why individually, therefore limiting impact and forcing teachers to manage their emotions in isolation. As Leaders, we want to build a foundation that allows teachers to increase like-mindedness and consistency so they can live their WHY as a community. In order to do this, we must develop the opportunity to nurture adults while problem solving. Collaboration has always existed in schools however, the primary focus has been students. What if we change the primary focus to adults so that adults are cared for, therefore, they can care for children more consistently. We will develop a vision, expectations and language so that adults can be supported in a way that allows for vulnerability. This allows adults to be truthful about their struggling students without fear of judgment or retribution.
