Developing computational fluency is an expectation of our math standards. Games provide opportunity for meaningful practice. Appropriate mathematical activities are essential building blocks to develop mathematically proficient students who demonstrate computational fluency. WHY PLAY GAMES? People of all ages love to play games. They are fun and motivating. Games provide students with opportunities to explore fundamental number concepts, such as the counting sequence, one-to-one correspondence, and computation strategies. Engaging mathematical games provide opportunities for students to deepen their mathematical understanding and reasoning. So please come and join me for a day of “just playing games”!
