It takes a village to raise a child. Under the McKinney-Vento Act, homeless liaisons play an important role in the life of a homeless child. The McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Act explicitly requires that local homeless liaisons have adequate capacity to fulfill their responsibility. This session will help build that capacity. Participant will take a deep dive into local liaison responsibilities. As we review the requirement of linking students and families to community resources, participants will have the opportunity to hear from a panel of local community agency representatives who will give us an understanding of local services available. All homeless liaisons will want to attend this meeting to build the capacity needed to best serve homeless students and families.
