8-9-23 — #12566 Teaching Writing to the AI Generation

Date: August 9, 2023

The Purpose:

How will artificial intelligence (AI) change the way we write? Is using it, cheating?

Come learn how AI will change the way we write and more importantly change the way we teach!
According to John Warner, “ChatGPT is an opportunity, not a threat! It is an opportunity to examine the work we ask students to do and the conditions under which teaching and learning happen, and to rethink our approaches in ways that make this so-called plague just another thing out in the world that we need to be aware of but not spend too much time worrying about.”
This workshop will explore how we can continue to teach writing and to challenge students with writing activities in a time when AI is becoming more available and more advanced. Let’s not be afraid of AI, but learn together how to use it effectively in the classroom.
